Hockey Goalie Leg Pads
Ice hockey goalie leg pads are the most important defensive piece of equipment the hockey goalie has. The type you choose will depend on many factors: brand, size, style, and design.
An easy way to properly estimate a goaltender's size for a pair of hockey goalie pads is to take the following three measurements (make sure to wear goaltender skates while taking measurements):
Floor to mid-point of knee cap - _________" (A)
Mid-point of kneecap to desired height on thigh - _________" (B)
Skate size - _________ x 0.75 = _________ (C)
The estimated size of pads would then be (A) + (B) + (C)
Keep in mind that there are two different styles of ice hockey goalie pads: Butterfly Style and Stand-up Style. The pads are cut differently for each style of goaltending. Butterfly pads rotate when you go down to form a 90 degree angle with the ice forming a wall, stand-up style pads are worn snug and do not move when you go down. If you have questions about which type are listed, make sure to ask the seller.
